I'm been working on SOS1 for a few years. I just bought the first legato book. I've worked on areas that looked interesting to me in SOS1 but wondered if Jack has some systematic ideas for working on these books.
My approach has been to keep reviewing older material and slowly adding new exercises. Although, I've stalled on adding them but will get back to it. It seems that it takes time to run the different exercises through various keys and scales.
Recently, I started trying to play different ideas from the exercises over changes, such as pentatonic sequencing through a tune or inserting certain kind of arpeggios when improvising over changes, playing tunes with fourth voicings, etc.
I started on beginning of the first legato book but felt there is still much to glean from SOS 1, just different materials. Any ideas from Jack or anyone's experience of using the SOS books would be appreciated.
